![]() | ![]() 28 April 2003 Dear Dr. Mike, I had the privilege (as a UK registered medical practitioner and former anaesthetist) to be by my friend's side in the operating theatre throughout his anesthetic, emergency operation and subsequent recovery. At all times I was impressed with the standard of medical care and nursing he received. Despite nearly losing his life from a blood loss amounting to a total of some 3.5 litres, by virtue of the expert expeditious treatment he received, within a week he had almost fully recovered from his major surgery. He suffered no complications notwithstanding the need for an 8 pint blood transfusion, intravenous fluids and numerous medications. Besides the modern equipment you have at the clinic and constant nursing care (which he would not even have had in England) I was most impressed by the role you personally played. As a specialist yourself you acted as the 24-hour conductor of all the medical care my colleague received, calling in specialists according to his particular needs as and when they arose. Often in private clinics, the physician or surgeon first engaged will hold onto the patient too long instead of referring him onto others when greater expertise is required in a particular area. I am a specialist in medical negligence law and practice (www.medneg.co.uk) and I am acutely conscious of malpractice and poor practice and I would have no hesitation in recommending the quality of the medical and surgical services you provide. I thank you, the surgeons, physicians and nursing staff for all that was done to· save my colleague's life Yours sincerely, Dr. Michael J Powers QC ![]() Date of Posting: 18 June 2010 Posted By: Dr. Michael J Powers QC England |
